A2 Flyers Speaking Part 3

🚀 Exam Details & Tips ⌄

THE TASK

The examiner shows the candidate a sequence of five pictures which depict a story. The examiner tells the candidate the name of the story and describes the first picture. The candidate is then asked to describe the other four pictures. The story’s title and the main character(s)’ names are shown on the story.

HOW TO APPROACH THE TASK

– Candidates need to tell a simple story based on the five pictures. Practice describing similar picture stories helps build familiarity.

– Examiners do not evaluate storytelling skills but expect candidates to say a few words about each picture without developing them into a full narrative.

– Before starting, the examiner will say: ‘Just look at the pictures first.’ Candidates should observe each picture to get a general idea of the story.

– If candidates cannot follow the narrative, it is acceptable to describe individual pictures briefly. The examiner may prompt with questions if needed.

FLYERS SPEAKING – Picture Story

– Key structures: there is/are, present tense of verbs be and have (got), modals like can/can’t and must/mustn’t, and the present continuous tense for action verbs (e.g., come, go, buy, put on, carry, open, laugh). Occasionally, present perfect tense or “going to” may be needed.

– Candidates should describe simple feelings, e.g., ‘The teacher is happy.’
