Speaking

Part 2 – Exam 1

🚀 Exam Details & Tips

The Task

In Part 2, the examiner asks the candidate questions about a person, place, or object using question cues. The candidate answers using information cues, then asks the examiner questions from a different set of cues.

Practise asking and answering questions about people, things, and situations. Include details such as time, place, age, and appearance.

Use question words such as who, what, when, where, how old, and how many. For example: What is the name of Robert’s favourite restaurant?

Practise yes/no questions, for example: Has Harry’s teacher got a car?

Practise questions with two options, for example: Is the restaurant cheap or expensive?

This part assesses the candidate’s ability to understand and answer questions, and to ask questions in simple everyday English.

Timing: 2–3 minutes
Interaction: Examiner → Candidate
Task type: One set of facts and one set of question cues.

Answer the examiner’s questions using the information cues. Then ask the examiner questions using the question cues. Ask clearly, listen carefully, and use a complete question when you can.
